Davis & Kuelthau proudly sponsored BizTimes Media’s Family & Closely Held Business Summit on Thursday, June 4th.

This forum provided an extensive overview on how to navigate many of the complex issues related to growing a successful and sustainable family and closely held business. Attendees learned from family business owners and CEO’s on a variety of topics ranging from culture, growth, transitioning, sustained success, and legacy. Leaders of local, family and closely held businesses participated in interactive sessions and shared their advice and experiences.

The keynote speaker for this program included David Ransburg of Family Business Consulting Group, Inc. who presented, “An Uncommon Thread of Success in Family Business”, an informative panel discussion featuring: Ted Balistreri, family co-owner of Sendik’s Food Markets, Nan Gardetto, former family business owner of Baptista’s Bakery Inc., and John Hunzinger, president of Hunzinger Construction Company will take place shortly after.

Following the main presentation, were two interactive sessions consisting of business leaders and professional service firms that addressed the granular perspective of running a family owned business.

Growth, Culture & Building Value
This session focused on the balance between building a strong culture, growing organically or through acquisitions, healthy family dynamics, the next generation and openness to change; building wealth and establishing company values; exploring ideas around cohesion, trust, leadership and more.

Transitioning, Sustained Success & Legacy
In this interactive session, company leaders focused on implications around business management and growth, management teams, next generation leadership, tying in taxation, M&A, succession planning, transition and estate planning issues; exploring ideas around alignment, conflict, and dialogue.

This event took place at the Italian Conference Center located on 631 E. Chicago Street in Milwaukee on Thursday, June 4 from 7:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.
